Children's Museum with Dad

I am updating the blog while working an event at the Law School.  Andy and James had breakfast with our friend Joey Iding and then they headed off to the Children's Museum because it is yucky and raining here.  Dad was sending me pictures while they were there, so I will pass them on to you.
The favorite sand table.
Look at that adorable face - fresh from his haircut.

This rail car thing fascinates James but he is still a little too small to get it to work right, but he always trys!

Pregnancy Update

I am now 31 Weeks!!! Only 8 more weeks to go!

Not a great picture, but you get the idea.

Size of baby: Baby Garrison is now the size of a squash. That better be a really big squash.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Well my weight has gone up another 8 lbs since my last post. I am currently at +20 and I am feeling very good about that.  Especially since my co-worker told me the other day that I didn't even look pregnant from the backside! Yeah me.

Maternity Clothes: My wardrobe is quickly shrinking.  I have started wearing Andy's A-shirts (tanks or wife beaters) in both gray and black, underneath all my shirts so that my belly is covered because my shirts keep creeping up.  It is crazy, shirts that I wore full term with James are way to small for this one.

Gender: It is still a boy! Ha Ha...We are still calling him Rocco because we are trying to come up with names but it is not as easy as it was with James.  We are avoiding it at this point, but we are not going to be able to do that for much longer.  Do they still make you decide a name before you leave the hospital?

Movement: He has moved further down in my pelvis region so he is not moving as much in terms of kicking and punching as he is sort of flopping around.  He likes to do barrell rolls in the morning.
Sleep: Still doing pretty good, I am a much lighter sleeper but I am still able to go back to sleep easily which was a problem when I was carrying James.

Cravings: Back to Mexican, french fries, and coke. I have also added sorbet to my list.  As he did last time I was pregnant, Andy has stepped up to the plate and actually made me homemade sorbet instead of having to buy me $7 Haagen Daz each night.  He is such a good hubby!

Symptoms: I have been very sore lately and am very stiff if I sit too long.  I also have this one spot on the left side of my belly that is apparently "internally bruised" and since Rocco loves me so much, he tends to rest his head there ALL DAY and push on that bruise. OUCH!  Other than that, I just need to make sure I get enough sleep and then all is well.  Andy is also being my nap enforcer and making me either rest or take a nap when I look to drained to him.  I must look like poo a lot because he makes me sit down a lot!  :)

Best Moment of the month: I don't know there that has been anyone moment this month.  It might be upcoming in that next week I will finally have Rocco's room cleaned, painted, and ready to go for him.  I will keep you posted.

New Yard Toys

We have now entered into the phase of our lives where the primary landscaping in our yard consists of large plastic items designed for small tikes.   We currently have a picnic table, new slide, and a turtle sandbox.   We tried to put them in the corner of the yard, but it is still alot of colorful plastic! Oh well, I guess this will be my life for a while.  James certainly enjoys them!!

Hanging out at my table.

I love my slide.

James New Room

As part of our plans to get ready for new baby, we decided that we would move James into a new room and into a big bed.  We were VERY nervous about this, but he did AWESOME.  We started out playing with him in the room and then he took a couple of naps in there and then he stayed all night a couple weeks ago and we just kept going from there.

He has only gotten "loose" one night and it was really my fault.  I opened his door after he had fallen asleep, because it was so hot in his room last Sunday.  About 3am I heard him say "baby" which he calls all his stuffed animals - and I thought to myself - Man that sounds very clear through that moniter...well he said it a couple more times then he poked Andy and we both shot up in bed.  He was walking around our room, with my underwear (clean by the way) on his head and clutching both Andy's shirt and Morty the Moose who he had left in our room earlier that day.  I scooped him up and tried to explain to him that everyone was sleeping now.  He said yes and nodded his head and I tucked him back in with no problem.

Andy and I did not go back to sleep that easily -constantly thinking we heard him again, even though I had closed his door.  Scared us to death  - good thing I put the gate up at the top of the stairs when I opened James' door or we could have had a whole other story. As it turns out, only a couple more gray hairs for Mom and Dad.

Theses are not great pictures, but will give you an idea of what Jame's room looks like.  We painted it a sky blue and then put up these wall decals of jungle animals.  It is pretty cool.

Purdue Spring Fest

Last weekend we got up and went to W. Lafayette and attended the Purdue Spring Fest.  We went to all kinds of things, a insect petting zoo, a garden show, and a barnyard petting area.  James liked the bunnies the best, they were SUPER soft and they kept coming back to get petted so he was pretty keen on them.  I only got a picture of the baby cow, but we also saw piggies and sheep.  James made sure to show the sheep that he spoke their language by giving them his best bleets...too cute.

This calf was a week old and super adorable. James, however, was unimpressed.

James and the Outdoors

Here are a bunch of pictures of James outside.  He is LOVING being able to go in and out of the slider onto the deck and the yard whenver he wants.  He is getting so good at the steps that he doesn't even need our help anymore, so he likes it even better.   Even better, Gus gets to go outside with him and the two of them wander around and fight over Gus's toys.  It is a good time.

Again - doesn't like the dirt...needs the shovel.

This is Dad and James' Bob Ross moment with sidewalk chalk.

You might not be able to see it, but James is holding Gus's favorite toy.
He does throw it for him after a sufficient amount of time torturing him with it.

The blind leading the blind.

James and my Belly

Many people have asked me if James is asking about my belly or noticing my belly.  This picture tells you how much he feels about it...It is a great pillow that can be used while we watch Seasame Street - nothing more. :)

Playing Catch-Up - Grandma's House

I am going to play the pregnancy card again on why I haven't updated this in a while. Although it doesn't mean much because my friend Bev just had a baby  - her 2nd - Case is James' age - and had her blog updated a week later - so it would appear that my excuse is laziness versus pregnancy, but I am claiming extreme exhaustion due to pregnancy!

These may not go in exact chronological order, so bear with me. Enjoy!

These pics were back in the middle of March (I know, I know) when we went to Grandma's Hogans for spring break.  We were very busy as everyone wants to hang out with James, but we had a couple of nice days that we could play outside.  James current favorite thing to do.

James LOVED this chair and kept getting up and down

We bought James this bucket and he went around digging things up and putting them in his bucket.

He didn't like the dirt on his hands though, so he kept the shovel handy.

James was very fascinated with Grandpa's tractor so we climbed up and drove for a bit.
